PATRICK CARPENTIER

PHOTOGRAPHER of the STARS

Singers, musicians, actors
almost all have stood in front of his lens: James Brown, Tina Turner, Grace Jones, Charles Aznavour
and of course, the icon of French rock: Johnny Hallyday.

Through the photographs of Patrick Carpentier, you can sense a perfect command of lighting and color. His images convey emotion and a certain sensitivity. His keen eye skillfully highlights the personality of his subjects with speed and precision. Whether it’s concerts, television, theater, musicals, one-man shows, or other performances, Patrick Carpentier excels at capturing the atmosphere of the performing arts. His work can be found across a wide range of media (books, album covers, posters, etc.).

A meeting with the legendary director of the Olympia: BRUNO COQUATRIX

In the early 1970s, at the age of 15, Patrick met singer Marcel Amont, who introduced him to Gilbert Bécaud and Charles Aznavour. During this period, Patrick also met Bruno Coquatrix, the director of the Olympia, for an interview. On that occasion, he received an all-access pass, allowing him to develop his skills alongside the artists.

A closer look at an extraordinary journey :

In the early 1980s, Patrick turned professional and worked with some of the biggest names in music such as David Bowie, Tina Turner, Elton John, James Brown, and many more. He then met Johnny Hallyday for the second time and went on to become his official stage photographer for over 25 years, capturing his biggest concerts, while continuing to work with other artists.

The 2000s saw Patrick photographing some of the biggest musical productions (Notre Dame de Paris, Emilie Jolie, Roméo & Juliette...), and also stepping into the world of fashion, where he spent 10 years as the photographer for the national and international modeling agency 'Elite'.

At the same time, for nearly 20 years, he was also the photographer for the Zénith de Paris, which helped him establish contact with many artists.

He was also present on most television sets, working for 6 seasons as the photographer for the shows The Voice (adults) and The Voice Kids.

Today, he has built a network of over 1,000 artists from music, cinema, one-man shows, and theater with whom he has collaborated. This has enabled him to launch his own press agency, 'Carpentier Agency', alongside a collective of photographers.
